On a sunny October day in 2016, Greg and Erin Masuda founded Nikkei Ramen-ya, dedicated to bringing authentic, scratch-made ramen to Vancouver Island. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant food scenes of Vancouver, LA, and Tokyo, they served the island’s very first bowl of ramen. Their products cater to diverse culinary needs, whether it’s hosting friends for a special evening, providing quick meals for kids, or satisfying late-night cravings—all without compromise.

Nikkei Ramen-ya prioritizes sourcing ingredients locally, supporting hyper-local farms, and utilizing the rich resources of the Salish Sea, as well as partnering with pork and poultry producers from south Vancouver Island and orchards from the Okanagan. Their noodles are crafted from premium wheat grown on the Canadian Prairies, and they source beer, cider, and sake from local artisans. Staying true to the principles of authentic Japanese ramen, they infuse their creations with a unique local flair, offering a delicious and wholesome dining experience for everyone. Find their incredible Ramen Kits in our frozen aisle and try it for yourself!
